OVERVIEW
Tour of Flanders, Liège-Bastogne-Liège and Paris-Roubaix: the three classic monuments of the North.
And then: Amstel Gold Race, La Flèche Wallonne and De Brabantse Pijl.
These are the six most popular races in what is called “Hell of the North” by professional riders.
The “Tour of the Classics” is a one-week tour (arrival on Saturday and departure on Saturday) that develops between The Netherlands, Belgium and France and that touch the highlights of each of the six races.
We will cross countries where cycling has always been part of popular culture and cycling is the preferred means of transport, at any age, to move, go to work, shop and have fun.
It will not be uncommon to meet some elderly lady with the city bike loaded with shopping bags as well as riding on roads closed to motor vehicles.
We will first cross Limburg, with its wooded hills; then Wallonia, with its côtes one behind the other, a real “playground” for those who love cycling; and finally Flanders, with its narrow streets that wind through the countryside and its characteristic cobble sections that connect villages with red brick houses and the atmosphere of the past.
Obviously, we will also have the opportunity to quench our thirst at the end of each stage, tasting the different local beers, even in cycling-themed pubs.
We will stay in the cities of Valkenburg, Liège, Leuven and Oudenaarde.
Data sheet
The Giro includes five stages and a day off (after the second stage). The total mileage is 521 km with a total altitude difference of + 4600m.
The last two stages include a final ring which, for those who are tired, it is possible to cut to go back to the hotel first.
It is a ride designed for road bikes (whoever wants to, can use a gravel bike as well). It takes place mainly on asphalt (96%), except for five cobble sections in Flanders and four sectors of pavé in Roubaix. We strongly recommend the use of 28 “tires.
