SEVILLA—DOÑANA—CÁDIZ

6 — 12 April 2024

TRIP OVERVIEW

Visit the historic and spectacular cities of Seville and Cadiz, shaped by the different peoples that have passed through them over the centuries.

Follow in the footsteps of the famous pilgrimage of El Rocío and spend the night in its village.

Cycle across the Doñana National Park along the unspoilt coastline, when the tide is at its lowest and you seem to be floating on the sand.

All this and much more in an unforgettable journey through the south of the Iberian Peninsula, in the southernmost part of Andalusia, which will take you to discover the culture, ways of life, nature and landscapes of a territory that has been, and continues to be, the gateway for peoples between continents.

We will travel in bikepacking-light mode: sleeping every night in hotels/hostels and dining in restaurants but carrying our luggage on the bike.

THE TRACK

THE STAGES

Stage 00. City Tour – 35 km | 100 m

A day to try the bikes and ride around the beautiful city of Seville.

We will visit some of its parks, ride along the banks of the Guadalquivir River, pass by the buildings of the Universal Exhibitions of 1929 and 1992. We will cycle next to the cathedral and stroll through its beautiful neighbourhoods.

Stage 01. Sevilla–El Rocío – 80 km | 230 m

You will cycle along the paths used by the pilgrims and their brotherhoods when, every year (on the weekend of Whit Monday), they travel on pilgrimage from the villages of Seville to the village of El Rocío.

These routes are full of culture and interesting landscapes that will take you on a gentle descent from the Cornisa del Aljarafe to almost the seashore.

Stage 02. El Rocío-Sanlúcar de Barrameda – 50 km | 60 m

Cycling for nearly 30 kilometres on the unspoilt beach of a national park is a unique experience in Europe.

On one side, you will have the lush coastal vegetation of Doñana, with all its protected flora and fauna. On the other, the full expanse of the sea as you ride gently along its shore, with no other concern than not disturbing the seagulls and sandpipers in your path.

Stage 03. Sanlúcar de Barrameda-Cádiz – 81 km | 210 m

In this stage, you will ride comfortably along the coast of Cádiz along greenways, cycle paths, tracks and some small stretches of road. From Sanlúcar de Barrameda to the city of Cádiz.

Free day in Seville city

We will leave our bikes and luggage ready and go for a ride around the city.
