Trip Overview

Mallorca Gravel

Mallorca is an island we thought we knew. Many times ridden, many times admired. And yet, every time we step away from the asphalt and onto the gravel, it reveals another layer. This journey is born from that curiosity: the desire to ride Mallorca slowly, deeply, and honestly. To trace a full loop around the island on gravel or MTB, not chasing famous climbs, but following the land where it feels most alive.

We have designed this route as we design all our dedicated journeys: by riding it first, by listening to the terrain, and by letting the island dictate the rhythm. Over the course of a week in late May, we move through mountains, plains, coastlines, and hidden interiors, linking dirt roads, forgotten paths, forest tracks, and rural passages that rarely appear on classic cycling maps. Each stage has its own character, its own light, its own quiet moments that stay with you long after the ride ends.

This is the Mallorca that exists between places: dry-stone walls glowing at sunset, ancient olive groves, silent fincas, empty tracks leading to nowhere and everywhere at once. Gravel and MTB allow us to connect these fragments into a continuous story, one built on effort, curiosity, and the pleasure of riding without haste. We ride to arrive, but also to remain present in every kilometre.

As with all PA-Cycling journeys, this is not just a route—it is a shared experience. A week to disconnect from noise, reconnect with movement, and rediscover a familiar island through unfamiliar lines. You will return to the starting point having completed a full circle, yes—but also with the quiet sense that Mallorca has let you see a side of itself reserved for those willing to leave the main road behind.

THE STAGES

23 May

Arrival at Palma de Mallorca airport. Pick up from airport and transfer directly to hotel arranged by Pa – Cycling.

24 May

Day Off at Palma de Mallorca. Bike preparation, briefing + Optional Loop.

25 May – STAGE 01

Palma to Santanyí — 81 km | 420 m

We’ll start our Mallorca gravel journey with a mix of coastal tracks and gently rolling rural roads.

As we ride through golden fields, olive groves, and quaint little villages, the climbs stay manageable—just enough to warm us up and find a good rhythm for the days ahead.

It’s a great way to ease into the adventure while soaking up the island’s classic Mediterranean charm.

26 May – STAGE 02

Santanyí to Artá — 72 km | 640 m

In this stage, we head inland, cycling through peaceful villages and open rural landscapes.

The terrain changes between hard-packed gravel and short paved sections, with some moderate climbs that keep things interesting but relaxed.

This is a nice stretch to settle into the ride, enjoy the scenery, and maybe stop for a quick coffee at a local spot.

27 May – STAGE 03

Artá to Pollença — 66 km | 490 m

Now we take on a bit more elevation and some technical sections that test our skills.

We’ll pedal past olive groves and narrow gravel trails, with ups and downs that keep the ride engaging.

The mix of flowing gravel and scenic views will keep us motivated and excited to explore every corner of this beautiful terrain.

28 May – STAGE 04

Pollença – Lluc — 64,5 km | 1630 m

At this stage, we delve deep into the mountains.

First, we will visit the spectacular Formentor lighthouse. To reach this remote and famous point, you have to travel along a road with very restricted traffic.

We will go there, return, and continue into the Sierra de Tramuntana until we reach the town of Lluc, where we will recharge our batteries for the next mountain stages.

29 May – STAGE 05

Lluc – Valdemossa — 80 km | 2270 m

Here’s where the climbing gets a bit more serious.

We’ll tackle mountain passes and descend into peaceful villages, balancing effort with relaxation.

Today we will descend and ascend one of the most famous routes in the archipelago: the road to Sa Calobra. A photogenic, beautiful, demanding and unforgettable route.

Without a doubt, the highlight of the trip.

30 May – STAGE 06

Valdemossa – Palma de Mallorca — 94 km | 1430 m

To wrap up the tour, we’ll cruise through a route that highlights everything Mallorca has to offer on gravel.

Easy gravel sections, some technical spots, charming villages, and coastal views will make this stage a well-rounded finale.

We’ll take in the fresh air and stunning landscapes, celebrating the end of an unforgettable gravel adventure together.

31 May

Departure day.
